Empire and Heard Presents: Presents: The Real Official Unofficial Showcase

When Heard/Empire partners first came to SXSW, their band band Shinobi Ninja was rejected to play the Festival, but they refused to take no for an answer.  A year later they came back to Austin and birthed an event called “The Real Official Unofficial Showcase” at  the venue that would eventually become Empire Control Room and Garage.  This was the first event our partners ever produced, ever, at 606 E 7th St (that’s our address). Despite being unofficial, sometimes losing headliners to official SXSW shows, struggling with finances, and having absolutely no clue what they were doing. What does that say about me when I work for them? The event got larger and larger and eventually we blossomed into the business we have today. 

Over a decade later we decided to look to our roots, roll up our sleeves, and do it again, BY OURSELVES. 

No sponsors. Just us featuring some great artist that deserve to be Heard. Yes, that is the origin behind the Heard name.
